Feb 1st

frowning moon
and a lone tear—
Venus rising

Feb 2nd

last night
a super soup
of fowl and steel!

Feb 3rd

rain, snow
rain, snow
only the groundhog knows

Feb 4th

many moons
many cats
both evade my grasp

Feb 5th

winter morning—
barely enough snow
to write about

Feb 6th

sixty degrees—
between blades of grass
the snowdrops huddle

Feb 7th

at the cabaret
a chilled spine—
winter moon

Feb 8th

blossomless—
a season teases
with a spring like day

Feb 9th

out of habit
I grab my coat—
Indian summer

Feb 10th

my cat
works off her food—
full moon

Feb 11th

no need for heat
this winter day

Feb 12th

a long day—
between the sheets
a short night

Feb 13th

at the beach
the sea foam resembles
fresh fallen snow

What a great idea for a preview image! Again, a special thanks to extremely talented `jade-pandora and `RetroZombie for the stamp/preview image!

1 - ok, so every one is using the moon as a subject for their first haiku, so here is my take on it. This will probably end up as a tanka later on, but for now it's my haiku. I have another moon haiku too, more cheery, but I feel this more.

2 - Superbowl haiku! :D

3 - Groundhog's day

4 - Based of a comment I saw in the Lit forum.

5 - It snowed yesterday (finally) but it wasn't all that. This is similar to one I did in the fall.

6 - from 15F degrees to 64F in 2 days

7 - Out of town for the weekend :)

8 - a beautiful day in the middle of the winter.

9 - The warm weather continues.

i hope that you are well, mike. just coming back to your winter wrimo entries and give you some of my thoughts, and to tell you that i have missed you.

day 1: we have quite a few observations of crescent moon and the star venus. it's certainly interesting to look at venus as a drop of tear. your month has started with a melancholic mood.

day 2: did you swallow the spoon? :O

day 3: i do not have to remind you i love this haiku, do i?

day 6: the first line immediately reminds me of math test papers with questions about geometry. that is quite unexpected and comical.

day 10: both the cat and the moon is full. lovely use of pun and you have suggested just the right word to connect the moon and the cat.

day 13: i can tell you are longing for more snow this winter and there isn't much. what a pity. i'm sure if there is more snow you can churn out even more lovely verses.
