The first acceptable shot from our(mine and my girls) new Canon EOS Rebel XTi 10mp SLR. I hope to have many more shots to come soon, but I'm still learning...

Funny you should say that, sometime last year I wrote a haiku based of a stock pic I saw similar to this. But I've always wanted to make my own pic. But to answer your question, no I can't get away from haiku no matter where or what I do. Here's a great workflow tutorial that you can use: [link] There are many steps in there that are picture-dependent, meaning you may or may not need to do them. Also, this is not a one-size-fits-all process. It's just a starting point. -- You'll find much more of my images and my prints at my Smugmug account. OK, as I read through it, it's not so basic. Didn't mean to push you into the deep end before you can tread water.
