The first acceptable shot from our(mine and my girls) new Canon EOS Rebel XTi 10mp SLR. I hope to have many more shots to come soon, but I'm still learning...

Minimal post work in PS: Took out some dust motes this fine camera caught and added the border, everything else is pure camera and lens.

A great accompanying poem by ~Esin

EDIT: Retouched in Adobe Lightroom

Thanks for the kind words and the Fav man, I'm glad you liked this shot. The camera and lens is incredible, I can't say how happy I am with this camera. I hope to have some more nature shots soon, bu tI m still learning what all this wonderful camera can do, in addition to learning the basics of photography. I still have a lot to do to catch up with you though! :)

I love it! The focus is perfect - especially the reflections being in soft focus.
The colors are quite nice as well. :)

It looks like a photographic haiku to me. :giggle:
(You just can't get away from them, can you?)

Always look on the bright side... there's more light there and it's easier to find stuff.

Very nice, Mike.

A bit of processing and this pic would punch you in the face. :D

Thanks Bill, coming from you I am humbled. But I would like to know what processing you're talking about, if you don't mind.

Glad you liked it man, it did turn out better than I imagined it would, That camera is amazing!

Funny you should say that, sometime last year I wrote a haiku based of a stock pic I saw similar to this. :D But I've always wanted to make my own pic. But to answer your question, no I can't get away from haiku no matter where or what I do. No need too, IMHO. :aww:

Mike,

Here's a great workflow tutorial that you can use: [link]

There are many steps in there that are picture-dependent, meaning you may or may not need to do them. Also, this is not a one-size-fits-all process. It's just a starting point.

OK, as I read through it, it's not so basic. Didn't mean to push you into the deep end before you can tread water.

I'll look around for something a bit easier to follow.

Sorry about that.
