At the end of a frazzled rope hung a man, daggling by a few blistered fingers and a little hope. He looked down, staring into the black abyss below, wondering if it would hurt, and if there was a bottom. Only a half an inch, he slipped, but it felt like forever in an instant. He breathed again. In short, quick bursts, as sweat beaded his brow.

The rope wiggles a little and looking up he sees her, knife in hand, slowly sawing and smiling. “I know you said you loved me, but I thought I told you good bye.”

A few vibrations

reflect off the up ‘til now

placid pond—

a tiny piece of skin

wiggles a hammer, an anvil

and a drum, beat neurons

into transmission; a remission

of sight with no light

a rock thrown into the night.

and the broken reeds—
a paint brush

I (wish I couldn’t) remember your face:

the delicate porcelain touch, cold-stone

pure and smooth, perfect; kissed lips,

frozen in time, in life by a medusa look

that freezes this prey in his weakened

footsteps—

stroll upon a broken back

and forth, back and forth, back and forth

to a time where I was together with myself,

with you, when we were us; not you, not me.

I may still love you, but I want to forget

to remember that I do.

After reading Gertrude Stein

The name of a thing is not
that thing, it is just a name
nothing more than the things
name and anyone can know that.

Thin glass darkly mirrors the high
blue, rippled by Siamese mosquitoes
while a bullfrog's booming burp
radiates.

Familiar and comfortable, once
we know the name of anything
a sudden power over it we wield
calling it, we conjure it into being.

Lipped and smooth, curved long
like a fine lady and transparent as
some, until filled with a bubbling
essence, skewing the light until
raised to lips.

So you see the name of anything
is just that; just a name
and it can be anything becaus

And here it wasn't so long ago that I was castigating some poor chap in the photographers chatroom about blowing highlights... Guess you have to know and understand the rules before you can break them (not that I do or course!)

Thanks for the kind words here and I'm glad you feel I have progressed somewhat.

Yeah, I was torn with the nose thing too, but I think it leads the eye more towards the eyes of the dog, which was the real focus of the photo.

lol - well probable not, he's really a yellow dog (see link in description for the original photo), but in this form I'm sure he would. I wish we had snow :/
